Struggling
with writing?
Contrary
to popular myth, writing is difficult for everyone. You do not, however, need
to suffer alone. In fact, it’s not a good idea. Chances are, like most
writers, you can use someone to help smooth out the rough edges and make your
writing come alive.
I
am a professional writer with a PhD in English and over a decade of experience
editing/teaching/tutoring all kinds of writing. I can help with writing at any
level or stage, from brainstorming to fine-tuning for publication, on projects of any scale, from job letters, personal
essays, and resumes to articles, short stories, dissertations, and books.
I also have a lot of experience with writers struggling with English as a second language, as well as native speakers
working on basic literacy.
I’ve
done editing work for professors and graduate students in Finance, Marketing,
Engineering, History, English, Physics, and International Relations, as well as
dozens of applicants to medical school, law school and various graduate
programs, high school students applying to college, and middle school students
struggling with book reports. In addition, I’ve worked on projects for
nonprofit groups, as well as various print and web-based publications. Before turning to freelance work full time, I
taught writing at the University of Rochester, Cornell University, SUNY
Geneseo, Rochester Institute of Technology, Northern Arizona University, and
Auburn State Correctional Facility.
I
can work face to face (geography permitting) or by
e-mail (using the Review function in Word), or a combination of the two, and
charge competitive rates.
